For years, photography was Sohrab Hura’s way of staying close to the world. But that relationship began to shift when grief, illness and physical fragility altered the rhythm of his life. Things Felt, But Not Quite Expressed emerges from that rupture: a body of pastel drawings made between 2022 and 2024, in which Hura turns toward tenderness and impermanence as another way of holding experience.

Moving through family, memory, love, loneliness and the surreal textures of everyday life, these works feel at once diaristic and elusive. Humour sits beside sorrow while internet-age absurdity brushes against mortality. What results is not a departure from Hura’s practice so much as an extension of it: a more fragile, fluid visual language for what resists easy articulation.
